  • Chairman and CEO of Daniel Construction Company.  Together with his brother Charles E. Daniel Class of 1918, (also on the DCAL), Daniel founded and developed Daniel International Construction Corporation in 1934, which at one time was the largest construction company in the world.
  • After graduating from The Citadel as valedictorian of his class, Daniel was commissioned in the US Navy and served on active duty in the Naval Civil Engineering Corps, before joining his brother Daniel in the construction business.
  • The Thomas Dry Howie Memorial Carillon on The Citadel campus was erected by Daniel and his brother Hugh R. Daniel Class of 1929, in memory of their classmate killed in World War II.
  • The Citadel's Danial library is named in honor of both Charles Daniel and his brother Hugh R. Daniel Class of 1929, for their many contributions to The Citadel, including the donation of the Daniel building in Greenville, SC in 1980, which was the largest gift any college in the nation had received up to that time.
